Drill Presses for Metal

Drill presses for metal for workshops, repair shops and production floors. The section is split into bench models from Optimum OPTIdrill, Quantum, Proma and FDB Maschinen Drilling, pillar drills up to the Drilling 40, Optimum RB and OPTIdrill RD radial drills, and the DM98V, MBD23 and MBD 32 magnetic drills. Also here: the Metallkraft RB 127 pipe drill and the SC310 cross table, in 230 V and 400 V versions.

How to Choose a Drill Press

Bench, Column or Radial

A bench drill press is placed on a workbench - it is compact and suits small parts and workshop use. A column (floor-standing) machine has a greater reach and spindle travel and a heavier base, and suits the shop floor. A radial drill press moves the spindle over the workpiece along an arm, so large and heavy workpieces can be drilled without moving them.

Drilling Diameter and Power

The main parameter is the maximum drilling diameter in steel. For metalwork and workshop use 13–16 mm is usually enough, for production 20–32 mm or more. The motor power and the spindle taper (MT2, MT3, MT4) depend on the diameter.

220 or 380 V

230 V models can be connected to a standard mains supply. Powerful shop-floor machines are more often three-phase (400 V) - check that three-phase power is available on your premises.

Speed Control

Spindle speed is changed by moving the belt between pulleys or steplessly (Vario, frequency converter). Large-diameter drills and hard steels require low speeds.

FAQ

How do radial drill presses differ from vertical ones?

On a vertical drill press the workpiece is moved under the spindle, while on a radial drill press the spindle moves over a stationary workpiece along a swivelling arm. That is why radial machines are used for large and heavy workpieces.

Which drill press should I choose for a garage?

For a garage or workshop, a 230 V bench drill press with a drilling diameter of 13–16 mm is usually enough. For heavy work, choose a column (floor-standing) machine.

Do the prices include VAT?

Two amounts are shown next to each price: incl. 20% VAT (large) and excl. VAT. We provide an invoice and a delivery note for legal entities and sole proprietors (FOP).

What is the warranty on the machines?

The machines come with a 12-month warranty. Goods of proper quality can be returned within 14 days in accordance with the law.

How do you deliver and how much does delivery cost?

By Nova Poshta, Meest or a freight carrier, at the carrier's rates. Pick-up from our warehouse in Dnipro is free. Goods are shipped after the invoice is paid.
