DISTAR Diamond Tools
DISTAR diamond tools for cutting, drilling and grinding concrete, stone and tile. The range is split into four groups: diamond blades for angle grinders and tile cutters from 115 to 400 mm, large 300-600 mm blades for petrol saws and floor saws, diamond core bits from 6 to 450 mm for concrete, granite and porcelain stoneware, and 100 and 125 mm segment cup wheels for angle grinders.

How to choose diamond tools
Machine first, then the blade
The machine sets the bore and the diameter. Angle grinders take 115-232 mm blades with a 22.23 mm bore, tile cutters and stone saws take 150-400 mm with a 25.4 or 32 mm bore, petrol saws and floor saws take 300-600 mm, mostly with a 25.4 mm bore. Never fit a larger blade than the guard is made for: at the same speed it would exceed its permitted peripheral speed.
The material decides the rim
A continuous rim gives a clean, chip-free cut in tile, porcelain stoneware, marble and granite. A turbo rim cuts faster in concrete, brick and stone, and a segmented rim with gullets runs cooler and handles long cuts in concrete and reinforced concrete. The harder the material, the softer the bond should be so that fresh diamonds keep getting exposed, which is why each blade series is made for specific materials.
Drilling holes
For socket boxes in concrete, use 68-82 mm segment core bits with an M16 thread, fitted to a rotary hammer through an SDS-plus adapter. Holes for pipes and ducts from 32 to 450 mm are drilled with 1 1/4 UNC core bits on a diamond drilling rig with water feed. For granite and porcelain stoneware there are small continuous-rim Granite Active bits of 6-46 mm.
Grinding and levelling
Segment cup wheels on an angle grinder remove concrete ridges, old paint and adhesive and level slab joints. For concrete, take DGS-W cup wheels with tall segments. DGM-S wheels with a grit number are made for granite and marble: coarse grades remove material, fine grades prepare the surface for polishing. Use them with a dust extractor or water so the segments do not overheat.
