Column and Floor-Standing Drill Presses
Column drill presses are shop-class upright machines: floor-standing models with a tall column and heavier machines on a solid base, with more reach and quill travel than bench models. How to Choose a Column Drill Press
Floor-Standing or Tall Base
Floor-standing machines, often marked F in the model name, stand on their own base plate while the table moves along a tall column. Parts about a metre high fit between the spindle and the base, and the table can be swung aside to put the workpiece directly on the base. Models with a shorter column take less space and suit low parts that still need the capacity and rigidity of a shop machine.
Drilling Capacity and Spindle Taper
The machines in this section drill from 16 to 32 mm in steel. The spindle taper follows the capacity: MT2 for drills up to about 20 mm, MT3 for 25-32 mm, MT4 for large taper-shank drills without adapter sleeves. If you also plan reaming, countersinking or tapping, choose a model with spare capacity and a motor of 1.1 kW or more.
Number of Speeds
Belt-driven machines have from 9 to 16 speeds, changed by moving the belt. For large drills and hard steels the bottom of the speed range matters most: the lower it is, the easier the machine handles a 25-32 mm drill without overheating, and on the heavier models in this section it starts at 120-150 rpm. The FDB Drilling 20 B has a mechanical variable-speed drive with a digital speed readout, so the speed is changed while running, without stopping or opening the cover.
Power Supply, Table and Safety
Column drills come in 230 V and 400 V versions, so check the supply in your shop. The table usually tilts ±45° and swings around the column, with T-slots for vises and clamps. On the OPTIdrill D 23Pro and D 33Pro the control circuit runs on a safe 24 V. Production sites also need a chuck guard, an emergency stop button and an interlocked belt cover to meet workplace safety rules.

What is the warranty on the machines?
The machines come with a 12-month warranty. Goods of proper quality can be returned within 14 days in accordance with the law.
How do you deliver and how much does delivery cost?
By Nova Poshta, Meest or a freight carrier, at the carrier's rates. Pick-up from our warehouse in Dnipro is free. Goods are shipped after the invoice is paid.
