Sector brake linings for crank press clutches and brakes: for УВ3132, УВ3135, УВ3138, УВ3141, УВ3144 and УВ3146 clutches, by УД, К, КВ and 43Т drawing codes, or simply by size. Each name gives the outer and inner diameter, thickness and sector angle, for example 295x255x4x60. Diameters range from 260 to 2610 mm, thickness from 4 to 10 mm. These friction linings are replaced as a full set per disc.

How to Choose a Sector Lining

Reading the Size

295x255x4x60 means: ring outer diameter 295 mm, inner diameter 255 mm, thickness 4 mm, sector angle 60°. The angle tells you how many linings make one ring: divide 360 by the angle. 60° sectors come in sets of 6, 90° in sets of 4, 120° in sets of 3, 45° in sets of 8 and 30° in sets of 12. A double-sided disc needs two such sets.

Selecting by Clutch Code

Most linings carry the clutch drawing code, for example УВ3135-00-009/801. Yet one clutch can have several versions: for the УВ3135 there are 295x255x4x60, 295x255x4x90 and 295x225x5x90 linings. So besides the code, compare all four dimensions with the old lining or the drawing. Without a code, select the lining by size: the range covers diameters from 260 to 2610 mm.

When to Replace

Replace the lining when its thickness is down to the rivet heads or to the limit given in the clutch manual. Other signs are a glazed, burnt surface, cracks and chips, or oil stains that make the clutch slip. Uneven wear around the ring points to disc runout or misalignment; check the disc before fitting new linings, or they will wear just as fast.

Fitting and Bedding In

Replace the full set on a disc rather than single sectors: uneven thickness gives poor contact and overheating. Clean the disc of oil and wear debris before fitting and tighten the fasteners evenly. After assembly, set the clutch and brake clearance and run a few dozen idle strokes so the linings bed in, then check the shaft overrun angle.
