Drill Sharpeners and Drill Grinding Machines
A drill sharpening machine reproduces the point angle and relief angles of a twist drill the same way every time, with no freehand work on a bench grinder. Here are the compact Opti GQ-D13 with a fixed 118° angle, OPTIgrind GH 10T, OS-13N and FDB MF13DW for 2-13 mm drills with adjustable angle, and OPTIgrind GH 15T for drills up to 30 mm. All run on 220 V.

How to Choose a Drill Sharpener
Diameter Range
Most machines in this section sharpen drills from 2 to 13 mm, the everyday range for fitters and maintenance staff. The Opti GQ-D13 takes drills from 3 to 13 mm. If you use larger drills, you need a model such as the OPTIgrind GH 15T, which sharpens drills up to 30 mm with ER40 collets. Buying extra capacity only makes sense if large drills are really used regularly.
Point Angle
The standard point angle of a twist drill is 118°, which suits most structural steels. Hard and stainless steels are usually drilled with 130-135°, plastics and soft materials with smaller angles down to 90°. The Opti GQ-D13 grinds 118° only, which is enough for general work. Machines with an adjustable 90-135° or 90-140° angle, or 90-145° on the GH 15T, let you prepare a drill for a specific material.
Collets and Accuracy
The drill is held in a collet, and the collet decides how symmetrically the two cutting edges are ground. Machines such as the OS-13N come with a set of collets from 2 to 13 mm in 1 mm steps, and the GH 15T comes with ER20 collets for 2-13 mm and ER40 collets from 13 to 30 mm. An asymmetric point drills oversize holes and overloads one edge, so keep collets in good condition and do not clamp the drill on a worn section.
Grinding Wheel
High-speed steel (HSS) drills are ground on CBN or abrasive wheels, carbide drills only on diamond wheels. Check which wheel comes with the machine and whether it can be swapped: if you sharpen both HSS and carbide, a replaceable wheel is handy. Motor power in this section ranges from 80 to 450 W, which is enough because drill sharpening removes very little metal.
FAQ
Why use a machine if a drill can be sharpened on a bench grinder?
The machine reproduces the same sharpening geometry every time, so the drill cuts more evenly, runs cooler and lasts longer. This matters in batch production.
Do the prices include VAT?
Two amounts are shown next to each price: incl. 20% VAT (large) and excl. VAT. We provide an invoice and a delivery note for legal entities and sole proprietors (FOP).
What is the warranty on the machines?
The machines come with a 12-month warranty. Goods of proper quality can be returned within 14 days in accordance with the law.
