Diamond Blades for Angle Grinders and Tile Cutters
Choose a DISTAR diamond blade by machine and material. Angle grinders take 115-232 mm blades with a 22.23 mm bore, tile cutters and stone saws 150-400 mm blades with 25.4 and 32 mm bores. Turbo and segmented blades cut concrete and stone, while the continuous-rim Hard ceramics, Marble, Granite and Esthete series give clean cuts in tile, porcelain stoneware, marble and granite.

How to choose a diamond blade
Diameter and bore
The blade diameter must match the grinder guard: 115 and 125 mm for small grinders, 180 and 230 mm for large ones. A 22.23 mm bore is standard for angle grinders, 25.4 and 32 mm for tile cutters and stone saws. Never fit a larger blade on a grinder: it would exceed its permitted speed and run without a guard.
Continuous, turbo or segmented rim
A continuous rim (1A1R) cuts slower but without chipping, so it is used for tile, porcelain stoneware, marble and granite, often wet. A serrated turbo rim cuts faster in concrete, brick and stone, dry. A segmented blade (1A1RSS) with gullets runs cooler and lasts longer in dry cutting of concrete and reinforced concrete.
A series for each material
A diamond blade only cuts while its bond wears away together with the diamonds. Hard granite and porcelain need a softer bond, abrasive concrete and brick a harder one, otherwise the blade either glazes and stops cutting or wears out quickly. That is why the series names state the material: Hard ceramics for porcelain stoneware, Marble for marble, Granite for granite.
Thickness and cut quality
Thin 1.1-1.4 mm blades (Esthete, Decor Slim, Multigres) suit shaped cuts in tile and 45 degree mitres: less load on the grinder and a narrower kerf. Thicker 2.2-2.6 mm turbo and segmented blades are made for deep cuts in concrete and stone and a longer service life. For long straight cuts in tile a wet tile cutter gives better results.
