PML Magnetic Lifters for Steel Plate
PML permanent magnetic lifters pick up steel plate, slabs and blanks with a crane or electric hoist without slings. The range covers PML100, PML300, PML600, PML1000 and PML2000: the number is the rated capacity in kilograms for a flat load. The lifter is switched on by turning a lever and needs no power supply.

How to Choose a Magnetic Lifter
Rating and Margin
The rated PML capacity applies to ideal conditions: a thick flat low-carbon steel workpiece, a clean ground surface and full pole contact. On thin plate, on scaled or painted surfaces and on round bar the permitted load is lower; take it from the table in the lifter manual. If conditions are far from ideal, go one model up: for a 400 kg plate with mill scale, for example, use a PML1000 instead of a PML600. Include the lifter's own weight in the crane capacity.
Plate Thickness
The magnetic field penetrates the metal to a certain depth, and thin plate cannot take all of it, so the holding force drops sharply. The minimum thickness for full rated capacity is given in the manual and is greater for larger models. For thin plate check the table in the manual, as the permitted load can be several times below the rating, and never lift a stack of sheets at once: the lower ones can fall off.
Surface, Shape and Material
Scale, paint, rust and unevenness create an air gap that noticeably reduces holding force. For round workpieces the capacity is much lower than for flat ones and is listed separately in the manual. Alloy steels and cast iron hold less well; austenitic stainless steel and non-ferrous metals do not hold at all. Do not use the lifter on hot metal above the temperature limit in the manual.
Safe Operation
Before lifting, place the lifter over the load's centre of gravity, turn the lever until it locks, and raise the load a few centimetres to check the hold. Never stand under the load or carry it over people, and avoid impacts and jerks. Inspect the poles regularly for dents and dirt, and check the lever lock and the lifting eye.
FAQ
How do I choose a magnetic lifter?
By load capacity with a safety margin and by metal thickness: thin plate is held less firmly than a solid workpiece, so the rated capacity should be chosen with a margin.
Do the prices include VAT?
Two amounts are shown next to each price: incl. 20% VAT (large) and excl. VAT. We provide an invoice and a delivery note for legal entities and sole proprietors (FOP).
