Description

The 04812 apparatus is a foundry laboratory instrument for checking how a moulding or core sand mixture behaves. A sample rubs against the walls of a rotating mesh drum, and the mass loss gives the mouldability of green sand and the friability of green, dry or hardened samples.

The drum is 11 cm in diameter and turns at 1 revolution per second. A mouldability test takes 10 s, friability of a green sample 30 s and of a dry sample 60 s. It runs on 220 V with a 22 VA drive, has a metal housing, weighs 6.1 kg and measures 415x175x195 mm. It suits plant and shop-floor foundry laboratories.

The 04812 tester is used in laboratories and in the construction and agricultural industries to determine the moldability and friability of various mixtures.

PURPOSE

The tester determines the moldability and friability of dry, green or hardened core and molding mixtures by a method in which the mixture is sifted through a sieve with openings of a specified size. The mass loss of a standard specimen during friction against the walls of a mesh drum is then determined.

APPEARANCE

The 04812 moldability and friability tester consists of two interconnected parts. The housing is made of metal. On the side there is an opening in which a cylindrical mesh drum is mounted. The drum walls are made of mesh material. A plastic cap is located on the outer side of the drum.
