Description
The 01317 apparatus made by NIILITMASH washes the clay fraction out of foundry sands and moulding mixtures. The sample is turned into a suspension, a water jet separates the clay from the sand base, and then the mass fraction of clay is determined. The process runs semi-automatically, which makes routine lab analysis easier.
This test matters wherever sand purity counts: in foundries and in preparing raw material for precise products such as glass. It tests 2 samples at once, each beaker holds 1000 cm3, and it needs a water supply at 0.2 MPa. Power is 150 VA, weight 22 kg, dimensions 359x290x565 mm. It suits plant laboratories for moulding materials.
The apparatus is designed for automatic elutriation of the clay
content of molding sands and mixtures by a method based on
separating the clay content from the sand base by agitating
the settling suspension of a sand or mixture sample with a water jet for
subsequent determination of the mass fraction of the clay content.
Application of the 01317 apparatus
The apparatus elutriates the clay impurity contained in sand or molding mixture. The whole process runs in semi-automatic mode. Sand extracted from quarries contains various impurities. Sand for construction does not need special cleaning, but the production of high-precision glass products requires sand of crystal purity. That is why manufacturers use the 01317 to elutriate the clay content from the selected sand. This is done by agitating a suspension of sand or a sand mixture with a water jet of a set pressure in order to determine the mass fraction of the clay impurity.
All external parts of the apparatus are made of brazed steel. Two flasks are mounted on the front panel. Each flask performs an individual measurement. Above the flasks there are buttons that supply the water flow when pressed. Inside the apparatus a transformer is mounted on the panel, and the fuse holder is located at the rear. The upper section of the panel houses the button controls. The apparatus components include: frame; filter (water treatment); hydraulic unit (water supply through a fitting); electronic unit; level sensor.
Additional tests
The following tests can also be carried out:
- Air compression
- Compression of a wet specimen
- Tension of a dry specimen
- Compression of a mixture after hardening
- Tension of a specimen after hardening
