Description

This conical friction lining is the working part of the lifting motor brake in Bulgarian T series electric hoists. It is fixed to the fan disc and, when power is cut, presses against the cast-iron fan cover to stop the motor. The lining wears in service and must be replaced once it is down to 1.5 mm.

Specs: thickness 5 mm, smaller diameter 175 mm, larger diameter 191 mm, catalogue number 430044. Sized for a hoist rated 1 t. It is mounted on the fan disc with epoxy and rivets, and the brake is adjusted after replacement. Suitable for repair services and workshops running Bulgarian hoists.

The brake lining (also called friction lining) for the Bulgarian T series electric hoist is part of the motor brake, fitted between the fan and the fan cover. It is a wear part of the motor brake, made of friction material and cone-shaped. Braking torque is produced by friction of the disc fan against the cast iron fan cover. This happens because the rotor has axial play: when power is applied it is drawn in and the motor brake releases, and when power is cut the motor brakes automatically.

During operation of the electric hoist, the condition of the lining must be monitored. When the brake (friction) lining wears down to a thickness of 1.5 mm, it must be replaced. To do this:

1. Remove the cover and the fan grille attached to it;

2. Remove the adjusting nut;

3. Remove the fan and replace the worn brake lining with a new one, which is attached to the fan disc with epoxy adhesive and rivets;

4. Refit the fan, then screw the adjusting nut back on;

5. Refit the fan cover with the fan grille attached.

After replacing the lining, check the brake operation and adjust it; only then may the hoist be operated in the appropriate duty mode.
