Description

This conical friction lining is the working part of the lifting motor brake in Bulgarian T series electric hoists. It is fixed to the fan disc and, when power is cut, presses against the cast-iron fan cover to stop the motor. The lining wears in service and must be replaced once it is down to 1.5 mm.

Specs: thickness 7 mm, smaller diameter 258 mm, larger diameter 280 mm, catalogue number 430066. Sized for a hoist rated 5 t. It is mounted on the fan disc with epoxy and rivets, and the brake is adjusted after replacement. Suitable for repair services and workshops running Bulgarian hoists.

The brake lining (also called the friction lining) for the Bulgarian T-series electric hoist is part of the motor brake and is installed between the fan and the fan cover. It is a fast-wearing part of the motor brake, made of friction material and cone-shaped. The braking torque itself is produced by the disc fan braking against the cast-iron fan cover. This happens because the rotor has axial play: when power is applied it is drawn in and the motor brake is released, and when power is switched off the motor is braked automatically.

The condition of the lining must be monitored during operation of the electric hoist. When the brake (friction) lining wears down to a thickness of 1.5 mm, it must be replaced. To do this:

1.       Remove the cover and the fan guard attached to it;

2.       Unscrew the adjusting nut;

3.       Remove the fan and replace the worn brake lining with a new one, which is fixed to the fan disc with epoxy adhesive and rivets;

4.       Install the fan, then screw on the rear adjusting nut;

5.       Install the fan cover with the fan guard attached.

After replacing the lining, check the brake operation and adjust it; only then can the hoist be operated in the appropriate duty mode.
