Technical description:
Opti GQ – D13 bench drill sharpener — a 2016 new product from the German machine tool group OPTIMUM. This portable sharpener was designed specifically for home craftsmen, small workshops and educational institutions that need to sharpen drills. These buyers need it far less often than large production plants and usually use a narrow range of small-diameter drills.
- The Optimum Opti GQ — D13 bench drill sharpener can sharpen drills from 3 to 13 mm in diameter. Drills are sharpened at a 118° point angle only.
- The GQ — D13 has an 80 W motor powered from a 220 V mains supply. At first glance the motor seems weak, but the low power is offset by a high speed of 4,200 rpm.
- Sharpening is very convenient and simple. The sharpener handles twist drills with two cutting edges.
- No special training or machine setup is required for sharpening.
- The sharpener  Opti GQ — D13 weighs only two and a half kg, so it is easy to transport and carry to where drills need sharpening.
- Unlike a number of competing models, replacing the diamond grinding disc on the GQ — D13 is not difficult. The high-quality diamond wheel ensures a long service life.
- The housing is made of quality plastic. The base of the GQ — D13 is designed so that the machine does not slip on practically any surface.
- How to sharpen drills:
- The drill is inserted into a holder with a collet clamp.
- A locator holds the holder with the chuck in a set position on the sharpener.
- First one side of the drill is sharpened, then the opposite side.
